Partner Support
Society places a lot of pressure on partners to be strong but they are experiencing their own emotions during the birth of their child. They too have fears and worries in the birthing process. He/She may feel helpless or scared by what they see you going through. I can help reassure them that everything is perfectly normal and happening as it should. It helps take the pressure off so they can enjoy the birthing experience as well.

If he/she wants to have an active role, I can show them effective ways to help you through labor. Your partner may choose to help you with labor techniques such as “slow dancing” or “the dangle”.  You may also choose to use him/her as physical support and birth with them right behind you.

I am there to support both of you through this most intimate moment of your lives and enhance your partner’s role, whatever that may be.  Some
partners prefer to take a less active but still important role.
They are the protectors of the birth space. They can be
your voice to the doctors and staff so you can stay focused
on laboring. You can be secure knowing they are near
by watching over you full of love and support.

A doula helps partners take guilt-free breaks to nap, relax,
eat, make phone calls, etc. without worrying that you are
alone. I will be right by your side. A doula is there in addition
to, not instead of, your partner. I cannot make the unique contributions that your partner can because no one knows you or loves you and your baby more.
